Readings from Statiq's newer fast chargers in Delhi showed about a quarter of the energy delivered going unbilled. The company traced it to a configuration error and fixed it, but the case shows how billing can drift from the electricity actually used.

Between July and September, ExpWithEVs photographed the screens of Statiq fast chargers in Delhi before and after a series of charging sessions. On a newer generation of the company’s chargers, the units recorded for billing were consistently about a quarter lower than the energy delivered to the car. Charging is billed in units, where one unit is one kilowatt hour (kWh).
On 15 August, at a charger in Kidwai Nagar, a car drew 49.91 kWh during a full charge. The driver was billed for 35.43 units.
We shared our data with Statiq on 9 September. The company said the cause was an error in a configuration setting on its second generation DC chargers, corrected it remotely within about five days, and shared its root cause analysis with us on 7 October. Statiq said it is absorbing the shortfall for individual drivers, and that site hosts were not out of pocket.
The error affected only around 15 chargers. But it shows how the numbers behind a charging bill can drift apart, why such errors can stay hidden, and what checks operators and hosts can use to catch them early.
