Mahindra's CHARGE_iN
We take a look at this car OEM's network
Mahindra started setting up their charging infrastructure across the country in late 2025. Till June 2026, it set up 39 charging stations with 72 chargers and 144 connectors.
Let’s take a closer look at Mahindra’s CHARGE_iN network, see what makes it tick and what doesn’t. We have TataEV and MG EV OEMs supporting charging infrastructure in their own ways. Six months ago, we covered TataEV’s efforts as a CPO partner in this article.
Mahindra is pure play CCS2 network, open to all. TataEV supports existing CPOs for marketing and branding new or existing charging stations or even upgrading some of them, open to all. MG sets up 15A sockets around the country calling it as their charging infrastructure, suited for e2W and e3W, and not e4W.
Other EV OEMs like Maruti, Tesla and VinFast are setting up their charging infrastructure with different strategies. Maruti’s network is at their dealerships and for Maruti customers only. Tesla’s is also at their dealerships and are now expanding on highways, for Tesla owners only. VinFast is setting up their infrastructure like any CPO would, open to all.
An OEM has two choices when setting up charging infrastructure - captive or open to the public. Captive is restrictive and provides great value to the customer. Open network pushes EV adoption in the country.
Charging infrastructure is an accessory to electric vehicles enhancing the user experience. Better chargers, amenities and software make that experience richer.

I’ll be attending the following events in New Delhi : ICCT India’s ICTS 2026 on September 1 and 2 and PHDCCI’s EVTech Asia Event on September 9. Come say hi!
Mr. Sanjay asked us why there are no chargers in Madhya Pradesh on NE4. There are chargers at Garoth on both sides of the expressway, as of June 2026. There could be more chargers on National Expressways, but electric power and tenders are the biggest bottleneck.
