Thank you to our premium subscribers for sending in the questions about Europe’s charging infrastructure.

While we did make some observations about the infra in Europe, we roped in Haseeb from eTechvolution to help us with some answers. Please follow him on social media and subscribe to his newsletter!
Haseeb helped us answer questions about Payments, Discovery, Charger Hardware, Charging Hubs, Pricing, Software CMS and Market Evolution! We also take a stab at some of the questions and answer them for the Indian context.
Without further ado, let’s get into it.
Q1 - Want to understand more about subscriptions. How much stickiness does it drive, what percentage of users don’t use subscriptions and prefer pay as you go?
In Germany, and in neighbouring developed markets, credit card terminal payment at the major CPOs accounts for around 10% of transactions or less. The remainder is predominantly RFID, and largely subscription-based. An RFID card may represent either a subscription account or a fleet card issued by an employer to its staff.
India - There are two ways subscription pricing is being offered in India - one is a small flat fee that gives you discount on charging like how Statiq and ChargeMod do.
The other is where you buy ‘energy pack’, say 2000 units a month and pay upfront on an app to get a discount, like JioBP or Voltran.
